Despite the recession, consumers are still spending with companies and brands which have a social purpose. New findings released today from the 3rd annual Edelman goodpurpose? Consumer Study, a survey of 6,000 people in 10 countries, revealed that during this recession, 57 percent globally say a company or brand has earned their business because it has been doing its part to support good causes (with Asian countries coming in highest with China [85 percent] and India [84 percent]). Two out of three (67 percent) globally also say they would switch brands if another brand of similar quality supported a good cause, peaking in Brazil (83 percent) and Italy (74 percent).

Zeno Group, a Daniel J. Edelman, Inc. communications firm, today named Barby K. Siegel as chief executive officer. Siegel joins Zeno from Ogilvy Public Relations, where she was managing director of global consumer marketing. Lynn Hanessian, who has served as Zeno's CEO since October 2007, is returning to Edelman to establish and lead Edelman Bio, a full service science and biomedical communications business.

He joins Edelman from Oracle, where he was Senior Director of Corporate Communications for four years, and will report into Robert Phillips, CEO, with a dotted line to Jonathan Hargreaves, Technology Practice leader for EMEA. Cairbre will be responsible for existing client relationships and for growing the practice, which is the UK's Number One Technology Agency (PR Week league tables 2009) and includes specialisms in consumer electronics, clean technology, digital entertainment and analyst relations.
